In Mykonos, Chabad leaders map the future of Jewish life across 43 countries
Israel & Jewish News - JNS,Wednesday, April 29, 2026
The sun-soaked island of Mykonos, better known for its beaches and nightlife than for Jewish life, became an unlikely nerve center of global Jewish continuity. For two days, dozens of Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries—men and women who serve as the primary Jewish presence across 43 countries in Europe, Middle East and Africa—gathered for a regional summit to strategize, collaborate and confront a shared reality: in vast stretches of the world, they are often the only address for Jewish life. “The emissaries are the Jewish people’s global support system,” said Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky.

Elon News Network,Sunday, April 26, 2026
Julia Stein, a junior at Elon University, was surprised to find out that one of the Torahs had come from a synagogue in Italy, a part of Minkowitz’s childhood. She said that Chabad has provided a close-knit community through the events and Shabbat dinners it hosts. “How many people came out, came from outside of Elon or outside of the local area to celebrate this, really showed that this was a really important event,” Stein said.

Such is the legacy of Rabbi Yehuda Leib “Leibel” Alevsky, executive director of Chabad of Cleveland, who died the morning of April 20 at his home in University Heights. He was 86. From a single Chabad in 1972, he pioneered the Cleveland Chabad movement that has grown to 21 houses across Northeast Ohio and another in Athens, many led by members of his family. “We are all going to continue on,” his son-in-law, Rabbi Yossi Marozov, executive director of the Friendship Circle of Cleveland in Pepper Pike, told the Cleveland Jewish News.

The Jewish Link,Thursday, April 23, 2026
In all, 6,500 shmura matzahs were distributed. “Many families don’t normally purchase shmura matzah for their Seders,” said Berel Grossbaum, one of the delivery volunteers. “We wanted to reach out to as many people as possible and show care, love and support for the community.” One recipient, Norah Lichtenstein, said, “Thank you for sending the traditional round matzah to our doorstep with the enthusiastic young men from Chabad. Steven and I look forward to reading and learning from the information attached and eating this matzah at the first night’s Seder.”

Home of Chabad emissary in Dnipro damaged in Russian attack, which wounded his son
ynetglobal,Wednesday, April 22, 2026
During a large-scale Russian attack on the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro, the home of Rabbi Zevulun (Zelig) Brez, head of the Jewish community and a Chabad emissary in the city, was hit. One of the rabbi’s children was lightly injured by glass shrapnel, received initial medical treatment at the scene and is in good condition. “It was a great miracle that the injury ended so lightly,” a member of the Jewish community said. “The blast was enormous, the entire house shook. Shrapnel and interception debris struck the building directly. The child was injured by glass, but his life was saved.”

The Chabad of Charleston will host an extraordinary evening featuring Natan Sharansky on May 13 at 7 p.m. at Center for Jewish Life (477 Mathis Ferry Road) in Mount Pleasant. Sharansky is regarded as one of the most influential voices for human rights and freedom in modern history. At a time of rising antisemitism around the world, Sharansky’s message carries renewed urgency. This special event offers a rare opportunity for the community to hear directly from a man whose journey continues to inspire generations and illuminate the path forward.

Musings Of A Shliach From Montana - 5 Towns Jewish Times
5 Towns Jewish Times,Monday, April 20, 2026
What is the role of a Chabad shliach? The answer is complex because it varies from place to place. College campuses are different than the “Smile on Seniors” program, which is different from a Chabad house in a tourist location, which is different than a shliach on the mitzvah tank. What we all have in common is a desire to fulfill the Rebbe, zt’l’s mission to bring Mashiach by helping Jews while spreading the teachings of Chassidus, the Baal Shem Tov, and the Chabad Rebbes, and of course, encouraging Jews to do mitzvos. Many mitzvos.

At Chabad of Cherry Hill West, the Rabbi Is Trying to Meet as Many Jews as He Can
Philadelphia Jewish Exponent,Monday, April 20, 2026
Rabbi Isser Brikman moved to the west side of Cherry Hill with his wife and son in December. The Chabad of Camden and Burlington Counties wanted him to open a house on the side of Cherry Hill that didn’t have one, as the east side, known for its large Jewish community, already does. Since moving to the area, Brikman has taken the approach that many new synagogue leaders take in their first six to 12 months: He’s trying to meet as many Jews as he can, and the effort is going quite well.
