I used to drive to work. On the way listened to Thought for the Day, or some such, on the London radio 4. They had many speakers from many traditions. R Sachs was by far the best, he really stood out. I asked myself why. It was because he was the least up in the air, the most down to the ground, humane, existentially realistic, neither liberal nor conservative, but a third way, a way of authentic struggle with God, a Jacob! And he liked the dark in Leonard Cohen's music, and admitted it was a factor in Judaism. He is missed.. Reply

My ancestors were Greek Jews according to DNA results but had forced conversion at some stage. I am married to a Jew and practice in every way. I loved listening to and reading about Jonathan Sacks inspired thoughts and works. He was a very great man. My son has Jewish blood and ancestry, although not practicing but , he has read Jonathan Sacks books and thought they were the best wisdom he had ever read. I cried when Jonathan passed and still miss his teaching. I thank God for sending the world such an inspired teacher, a man who could speak to any nation, belief, and status. That’s a man of God. When I was imprisoned, the few of us who were practicing Jews were all sharing our studies with one another. A lot of our teachings came in print from family members who printed them out and sent them in to us. The majority of them were all Rabbi Jonathan Sacks teachings/writings. He was a Blessing to us inside those walls, and still is to those who are still imprisoned, because we never threw away any of those documents. We continued to read them year after year, along with all of the writings/books we all passed around from the Aleph Institute. Hashem is always good, B''H! Reply

We bless the righteous memory of Rabbi Sacks. Also, we thank HaShem for the wealth of Rabbi Sacks' materials stored in his archives as well as media technology that enables us to, not only see, but to listen to his anointed Torah teachings that strengthen the soul and our relationship to HaShem and to each other. Hello. My name is Enoc Alcantara Mendez. I am a Noahide. It is my misfortune to just learn that, Mr. Rabbi Sacks will not be among of those Great Tzaddikim that I was about to meet as soon as I got out from the infamous american gulag, F.M.C. Butner, NC. I have read that, Mr. Rabbi Sacks has published a lot of the Siddurim published by Koren. I never thought that he would leave too soon. I took for granted that he would be around for a long while and that I would be able to attend to his Sermons, whether online or in person. Because I have been neglectful in my own Torah study, whatever excuses I might have, I feel so inadequate to start speaking the right words for this very sad occassion, but I hope that there will be a chance for me to make it up to it. May Hashem bless his surviving family and that his legacy be kept alive for all those whom --like me-- did not have the great privilege of being "sitting at his feet." I am becoming his student as soon as I have that chance. Reply

I was so sorry to hear of Rabbi Sack’s passing. He was a generous soul and I loved reading his writings. May he rest in peace. Praying for his friends and family. Reply

For me and my wife the loss of Rabbi Sacks ZTL, is the loss of a mentor and Rebbe who has, and will continue to grace our שבת table every week. We keep asking and wondering What would Rabbi Sacks say or do. Reply
